Lucas and Raye first crossed paths at Carver Elementary School, where Lucas boldly challenged her to a late‑night basketball match at 1 a.m. From that moment on, they were inseparable. They quickly realized how much they had in common and how naturally they fit together.

They love kayaking in the summer and will happily golf on any day above 50 degrees. Over the years, they’ve shared countless adventures—big and small—and especially treasure the ones spent with their families.

In 2021, Raye brought Lucas to her family Christmas.

After only a brief conversation with Lucas, Raye’s grandma Jo pulled her aside and said, “He’s the one.” That was all the confirmation Raye ever needed. Lucas, on the other hand, will tell you he knew from the beginning—ever since Raye so graciously accepted her defeat in their very first basketball game.

The years since have flown by, blending into a collection of memories filled with joy, challenges, growth, loss, resilience, and unwavering love. Through it all, they’ve learned one thing for certain: there is no one else they’d rather walk through life with than each other.
